How to Rebuild a Carburetor

Thinking about tackling a carb rebuild? This two-part video guide could be a huge help.

Rebuilding a carburetor can be a daunting task if you’ve never done it before. There are tons of small parts, screws and gaskets that need replacing, and a lot of pieces that need cleaning or adjusting.

Luckily for you, Hagerty put together a full video guide on how to disassemble then reassemble an Edelbrock or Carter AFB carburetor, start to finish. The guide is split into two parts, and shows you all the tools and replacement parts you’ll need to get the job done properly. The videos are pretty in-depth—the first one is about 40 minutes long, and the second is about a half-hour.

Host Kyle Smith gives tips on how to get older, stubborn carburetors dismantled, and helps identify which parts go where. If you’re planning on rebuilding a carburetor any time soon, these videos are a valuable tool for getting that project back on the road. Check out the clips right here.
